Marist College and BlackRidge Technology today announced a research partnership to develop advanced cybersecurity capabilities that provide an additional layer of protection for enterprises that compute ‘at scale,’ such as the financial sector, exchanges, and private cloud providers. The capability to provide advanced cybersecurity research was developed in the New York State Cloud Computing and Analytics Center at Marist College. The research environment includes the Software Defined Networking (SDN) Interoperability Lab, where BlackRidge will work in collaboration with eight other major network systems providers.
As part of the joint research relationship, Marist tested and deployed the BlackRidge solution to protect the College’s internal network management devices. Due to the ease-of-use and the integration BlackRidge has with existing identity management systems, going from the proof-of-concept environment to deployment took less than a day. The next field trials will include setting up secured network spans that will protect the College’s Academic Community Cloud that leverages multiple IBM z Systems.
Marist’s Academic Community Cloud provides secured shared services and learning analytics to a number of K-12 and higher education institutions. Additionally, Marist will provide assistance to BlackRidge in their initiative to develop advanced professional curriculum for cybersecurity field experts and practitioners.
